Well, I promised to post a little more about our trip to Atlantis. This time, I want to focus on food and a few other things.
I was kind of mad at Brady because he refused to take a pair of slacks so that we could eat at one of the resort’s nice restaurants. I’m still hacked to say the least. There are many gourmet restaurants scattered throughout the resort grounds including Olives, Nobu, Bahamian Club, Chop Stix, Seafire Steakhouse, and more.
Since Brady didn’t bring the appropriate attire, we stuck to their casual dining restaurants. The ones we ate at were Marketplace, Virgil’s BBQ, Carmine’s, Johnny Rockets, and Marina Pizzeria. We also ate at Quiznos but I don’t think I need to explain that one.
Marketplace is a buffet on steroids and is located in Royal Towers. I want to say for breakfast it was $35 per person and lunch and dinner were $40 per person. It was a hefty price tag but there was a good selection of food. We only went there one morning for breakfast and we were thoroughly impressed. Most of the time we either slept in until 9:30 in the morning, grabbed Starbucks (there are 3 of them), or just held off until 11 and ate lunch. Then we would go to Ben and Jerry’s for an afternoon snack 🙂
The first place we went to FOP (Fresh Off The Plane) was Virgil’s BBQ. This restaurant is located in between Royal Towers and Coral Towers on the ground floor. You have to go through the lobby of Coral Towers and down the stairs to enter unless coming in from the outside. My mouth is watering just thinking about the food.  The first thing we said when we saw the menu was “S*it this is expensive!!” After doing some further reading, we saw where they are FAMILY size platters that could feed 4 people. Since there were 2 of us, we asked our waiter if there was any way we could get a half portion of our entrĂ©e (Carolina Pulled Pork). He said yes we could and it would also be half the price. So instead of a $40 platter, we got a $20 platter. We also got a side of macaroni and cheese that was to die for. Note:they can only half the meats, not the sides and the waiters won’t tell you you can do this. You just have to be smart enough to ask. We also got some massive dessert. I have no clue what it was but it was huge and only $8. Definitely go to Virgil’s if you go to Atlantis! You won’t be disappointed.
Another night, we decided to try Carmine’s. This is a small Italian restaurant chain taken after the World Famous Carmine’s located in New York City (other locations in D.C., Vegas and New Jersey). This restaurant is located at the end of Marina Village and opens at 5:30p.m. for dinner only. Note: Reservations are a good idea. We decided to go on a whim and were lucky enough to get there right when they opened and got a seat on the patio. I love people watching.
We were also shell shocked at how much everything was on the menu here too. Again, we read the fine print “menu portion sizes are very large and meant to be shared among several people.” Oh. Gotcha! I had a nice glass of Riesling wine and we ordered Lasagna off the menu. I know, real original. Brady is picky. Let me just say, this lasagna was the size of a small infant. Every meal is also served with bread and oil. YUM. Again, a must if you go to Atlantis!
Our second night there, we ventured down to Johnny Rockets for supper. This is also located in Marina Village and across from Carmine’s. See, I told you the Marina Village was my favorite spot! Of course, we sat outside on the patio so I could people watch. That and the weather was just gorgeous! (Carmine’s is to the right in this picture)
This restaurant is 1950’s inspired and has some kickass burgers! I would recommend the Route-66 Burger (mushroom and swiss). Since we live close to Route 66, I couldn’t resist. I had to get the burger. Aside from that, mushroom and swiss burgers are my weakness. Brady ordered a bacon cheeseburger. We got plain ol’ fries with our meals. I’m not a fry person, but Brady devoured them. There were many people around us who were ordering milkshakes so they must’ve been good too!

Now, I know you haven’t heard me talk about lunch much. We were pretty simplistic and boring when it came to lunch. There was a Quiznos Subs in Marina Village so we ate there once. Usually we just drank our lunch thanks to the Daiquiri Shack (needs no explanation) also located in Marina Village.
The one place we find ourselves going back to for lunch was the Marina Pizzeria. If you can’t tell by the name, this is located in the Marina Village right outside the casino/shops area. They have some of the best pizza I have ever eaten. You can order either pizza by the slice or a whole pizza, available in a Medium and Large. One time we got their Meat Delight (Classing Tomato Sauce, Italian Mozzarella, Smoked Bacon, Ham, Pepperoni, Italian Sausage, Oregano). Another time we got just plain Pepperoni and the last time we got half Pepperoni half Bahamian Spice (Tomato Sauce, Italian Mozzarella, Sweet Peppers, Onions,Hot Banana Peppers, Jerked Chicken). I wouldn’t recommend the Bahamian Spice. Brady wanted to try it and he thought it was good, but I was not a fan. Anyway, you can order your pizza and 10 minutes later walk back in and pick it up. They have no seating inside, but there are plenty of seats along the docks to sit and watch the boats or soak up the sun. The Pizzeria is down these stairs and to the right. You can’t miss it!!
Well, I think that’s about it for where we ate. I hope this helps give people a better idea of some of the restaurants and a little about them. Like I said, I would totally recommend Atlantis and all of their delicious restaurants.
